Field Engineer (Telecommunication & Network Systems)
Location: Germany (primarily Valluhn, near Hamburg)
Duration: Until end of 2025, potentially extending to 2027 and longer.

Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Field Engineer to join team of 6 engineers based in Valluhn, Germany. This role involves supporting high-profile communication system projects for government customers across Europe. The Field Engineer will be responsible for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of telecommunication and networking systems. The position requires a strong technical background and hands-on skills in networking, operating systems, and radio frequency technologies. You will also support integration and testing activities, making this role dynamic and varied.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct on-site installation, configuration, commissioning, and testing of telecommunication and IP-based systems.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for hardware and software issues related to network and radio communication systems.
- Perform fieldwork, including wiring, soldering, and physical installation of equipment.
- Participate in system integration, testing, and maintenance tasks.
- Step in to support the lead engineer during absences, providing leadership and guidance to the team when necessary.
- Ensure adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
Basic Requirements:
- Fluent in both English and German.
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of professional engineering experience in telecommunication systems, IP transport networks, IT, field service, or technical support.
- Strong knowledge of IP Networking (Switches, Routers, Firewalls) and related certifications (Cisco Certified Network Associate [CCNA], Juniper Network Certified Internet Associate [JNCIA] or higher).
- Proficiency in Operating Systems (Unix, Windows, Virtualization).
- Good understanding of Radio Frequency (RF) technologies (Base Station TX/RX, Mobile/Portable Radio, RF test equipment).
- Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle (reimbursement provided).
- Willingness to travel, up to 80% of the time, within Germany and across Europe.
- Willingness to obtain relevant security clearance to access sensitive customer sites.
Preferred Experience:
- Hands-on experience with Radio Communication Systems, Command and Control Systems, and technical problem-solving.
- Familiarity with system integration and testing, especially in relation to specific technology such as:
- Digital Mobile Radio Systems (e.g., DIMETRA, MOTOTRBO Capacity Max, WAVE/Kodiak)
- LTE RAN and EPC integration
- NICE Voice Logging technology
Additional Considerations:
- Security Clearance: Preferred candidates are German citizens or EU nationals with at least 5 years of residency in Germany. Security clearance is a mandatory requirement for this role, subject to the customer’s discretion. Background checks will be conducted.
- Team Dynamics: The role is part of a small, close-knit team of 6 engineers based in the Valluhn warehouse, supporting key projects for the German Ministry of Defense.
