For our client Naturell we are seeking a dynamic and innovative Research & Development (R&D) Manager to lead and oversee the development of new products in either the pharmaceutical or food supplement industry. The ideal candidate will be responsible for driving research initiatives, ensuring regulatory compliance, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to bring groundbreaking products to market. This role requires a deep understanding of product formulation, market trends, and industry regulations. In this role you will report to the CEO and work from the office in Åkersberga.

The Role

Looking for an experienced and innovative R&D Manager to lead the research and development efforts in the food supplement industry. This position offers the flexibility of being based in Akersberga, Sweden, or in Poland (Warsaw or Wroclaw office), depending on the candidate's location. However, candidates based in Poland must be available to travel to Akersberga for one week per month to collaborate with the local R&D team.The R&D Manager will oversee a team of two R&D Specialists based in Akersberga, who will report directly to this role. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to foster cross-functional and international collaboration.

• Product Innovation & Formulation: Drive new product development by creating innovative formulations for food supplements in various formats, including tablets, hardgels, capsules, chewable tablets, and sticks.
• Technology Adaptation: Ensure that product formulations are adjusted to fit production machinery capabilities and optimize manufacturing processes.
• Team Leadership & Collaboration: Lead the R&D team while coordinating closely with Technologists, Marketing and Brand Managers.

• Hands-On Testing: Conduct production trials and perform laboratory testing to ensure products meet quality and regulatory standards.
• Product Development: Lead the formulation and development of new pharmaceutical or food supplement products from concept to commercialization.
• Research & Innovation: Identify trends, customer needs, and emerging technologies to create innovative solutions and improve existing products.
• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all products and processes comply with applicable regulations, including FDA, EMA, or other relevant guidelines.
• Project Management: Manage R&D projects, including timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring timely delivery of milestones..
• Documentation: Maintain detailed records of research findings, formulations, and trial results, ensuring proper documentation for regulatory submission.
• Vendor & Supplier Coordination: Collaborate with raw material suppliers to source high-quality ingredients and stay updated on market developments.

Qualifications

• Fluent in english both spoken and written. 
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biotechnology, Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
• 5-8 years of experience in R&D within the pharmaceutical or food supplement industry, with at least 2 years in a managerial role. Proven portfolio of launched products in previous experience.
• Strong knowledge of formulation development, manufacturing processes, and regulatory requirements for pharmaceuticals or dietary supplements.
• Proven ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams.
•  Ability to troubleshoot formulation challenges and design innovative solutions.
•  Familiarity with GMP, FDA, EMA, or other relevant regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex ideas to stakeholders.
