Field Service Engineer
Job Description:
The Field Engineering role forms part of multi-disciplined project teams to design and deliver complex mission-critical voice and data systems. The systems may be used directly by our customers or by Motorola Solutions to deliver Managed Services to our customers.
The Field Engineers work in the post-sales phases of projects and, depending on size and complexity, may support multiple projects in a given period. They may also be required to provide support to the Pre-sales and Services Organization.
The key responsibilities of the System Integration Field Engineer :
● Manage and/or perform implementation of communication system solutions and services that satisfy the requirements of the customer, end user, and operator
● Provides technical support for Solution Staging, as required
● Responsible for the installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of MSI and 3rd party solutions (with support from the supplier/vendor)
● Responsible for identifying, investigating, and troubleshooting technical issues during project implementation
● Responsible for on-site Acceptance Tests, while coordinating the technical aspects of the acceptance testing.
● Update of technical documentation and technical change management
● Provide technical support during all project phases through to handover to the Support organisation
● Communications - Attend customer meetings, status updates, and provide project reporting.
● Provide on-site or remote support to customers and partners
● Responsible for self-development through an agreed-upon training plan, experience, and knowledge transfer.
● Leading the field deployment and day-to-day activities: Deploying, configuring, commissioning, Testing, and troubleshooting systems and solutions.
● Identifies and mitigates technical risks; develops and implements risk mitigation plans and recommends corrective actions.
● Interface, communicate, and coordinate with the customer, partner, subcontractor on project deployment and best practices where required.
● Ensure the project is delivered to the Motorola Solutions Quality, Health, and Safety standards.
● Conducts technical implementation assessments directly with end users and the project team.
● Knowledge transfer from the design team to the implementation team and the customer. Coordinate the interface between design and implementation.
● Implementation team focal point for issues raised during deployment, and responsible for tracking through to resolution.
Basic Requirements:

Fluent in English.
- University degree in Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or related field would be an additional advantage.
- At least 4 years of professional engineering experience in Telecommunication System, IP Transport Network, IT, Field Service, Technical Support, or equivalent.
- Knowledge in IP Network (Switch, Router, Firewall, etc.)

Good knowledge in Radio Frequency (Base Station TX/RX, Mobile /Portable Radio, RF test equip.)
- Manual skills for field work, like wiring, soldering, and physical installation of equipment, in addition to commissioning and testing tasks.
- Valid driving license.
- Availability and willingness to travel (80%), inside and outside the residence country.
