Kafka Engineer
For our client, a global consultancy company, with a strong focus on digital learning and educational innovation, we are looking for a Kafka Engineer.

Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Kafka Engineer to lead the product ionization of MSK (Managed Streaming for Apache Kafka) and support a future migration to Confluent Kafka. This is a hands-on role requiring deep expertise in Kafka architecture, AWS infrastructure, and ideally prior experience with Confluent platform migrations.
The ideal candidate will be able to hit the ground running, having previously led or contributed to Kafka migration projects, and will bring strong problem-solving skills and architectural insight to ensure a smooth transition and scalable implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the product ionization of MSK Kafka clusters, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security;
- Design and implement strategies for future migration to Confluent Kafka;
- Collaborate with DevOps and Data Engineering teams to optimize Kafka configurations and integrations;
- Monitor and troubleshoot Kafka performance and reliability issues;
- Implement best practices for Kafka topic design, partitioning, replication, and retention policies;
- Ensure seamless integration with AWS services (e.g., EC2, IAM, CloudWatch, Lambda);
- Document architecture, migration plans, and operational procedures.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience with Apache Kafka in production environments;
- Hands-on experience with AWS MSK and related AWS services;
- Prior involvement in Kafka migration projects, ideally to/from Confluent Kafka;
- Strong understanding of Kafka internals: brokers, producers, consumers, zookeepers, schema registry;
- Familiarity with Confluent Kafka ecosystem (Control Center, ksqlDB, Connectors, etc.);
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) is a plus;
- Excellent troubleshooting and performance tuning skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Confluent Kafka certification or equivalent experience;
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) in Kafka deployments;
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and Kafka monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana);
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
