Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Database Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of AWS Relational Database Services (RDS), with a strong focus on automation, scalability, and performance optimization. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high availability, security, and operational excellence across our cloud-based data infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the lifecycle of AWS RDS, including provisioning, monitoring, patching, and decommissioning.
- Work with AWS Aurora, RedShift, PostgreSQL (main) Oracle (secondary), and other database technologies to support business-critical applications.
- Lead database migration projects and implement authorization management using IAM tools.
- Analyze and optimize execution plans and queries to improve performance and efficiency.
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Crossplane.
- Design, configure, and manage CI/CD pipelines for database and infrastructure deployments.
- Set up and maintain monitoring solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, and integrate alerts with Microsoft Teams.
- Manage logging infrastructure using ELK Stack and AWS CloudWatch.
- Oversee backend storage management, ensuring scalability and cost-efficiency.
- Develop and implement disaster recovery and high availability strategies.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for incidents and implement long-term fixes.
- Create and maintain handbooks, runbooks, and technical documentation.
- Support incident resolution and assist teams in epic creation and problem-solving.
- Perform operational tasks, including incident handling and on-call support as needed.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience with AWS RDS, Aurora, RedShift, and PostgreSQL databases.
- Strong knowledge of IAM, Terraform, Crossplane, and CI/CD tools (e.g., GitLab).
- Hands-on experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, CloudWatch).
- Solid understanding of backend storage, disaster recovery, and high availability principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and experience with RCA investigations.
- Strong communication skills and ability to create clear documentation.
- Experience in a DevOps or Cloud Engineering environment is highly desirable.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database – Specialty, Solutions Architect).
- Experience with container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools like Jira.
